The BMW i3 Engine Reviewed

Well-built interior, fun to drive and efficient engines

Well-built interior, fun to drive and efficient engines make BMW i3 a super hero on the road:

The BMW i3 was built for serving the purpose of an eco-car and that’s why it doesn’t experience any embarrassment as that of its opponents which are created on a usual platform. The BMW is undoubtedly relaxing and a muscular performer.

More significantly, it blends amazing efficiency along with impressive quality and a bigger sense of practicality as compared to its rivals like the Audi. The modern stylish looks of BMW i3 and a recognizable blue and white badge on its body, BMW i3 is all set to deliver power packed performance to its customers.

It offers a supple and firm ride. The efficiency of i3 is not only the praising factor but the packaging and designing are simply matchless. BMW i3 is expensive than its enemies but more reliable and energetic as well.

It is one of the most pleasant things to hear that BMW i3 is the most reasonable car in the whole ‘I’ line up. On one side there is i8, which gives tough competition to all the models of its range with its supercar styling, beetle-wing doors and strong hybrid drive train. The other side i3 pompously grabs attention through practicality and reducing running costs.

BMW i3 Engine:

If we talk about engines, then there are two power train options for the BMW i3. If you choose for the pure electric version, you obtain a 125kW (168bhp) electric motor smartly connected to the back axle by means of a single-speed fixed-ratio transmission and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. Like the other BMW engines, this model is a bit different because it is electric version with excellent average economy.

They’re carefully packaged – the battery is efficiently integrated into the back cabin floor, whereas the motor takes up one half of the space under the boot floor. Go for the 32bhp range-extending two-cylinder petrol specific generator, and you’ll discover it tucked under the boot floor on the opposed side to the electric motor. Keep in mind the petrol engine doesn’t ride the car directly; it simply delivers electricity for the battery or motor.

Along with its powerful electric motor and quite lightweight 1,270kg carbon fiber structure, the BMW i3 is astoundingly fast, too. All thanks to the electric motor’s instantaneous torque, acceleration is swift, and it manages an approximate 0-60mph time of just 7.2 seconds – that’s as quick as the more powerful Audi A3 e-tron.

Adding up the additional weight of the range-extender generator carries the 0-62mph time down a shade to 7.9 seconds, but the variation is barely evident on the road thanks to the electric motor’s instant reaction to a dab on the accelerator.

Warranty:

For the purpose to ensure buyers, that are somehow nervous and unfamiliar with the electric drive technology, BMW i3 proudly offers a complete eight years and 100,000 miles’ warranty specifically for the lithium ion battery pack.

The remaining of the car involves the electric power system and the motor of car itself is sheltered by a standard three year guarantee which is a typical feature of BMW vehicles.
